Jeremiah 44:4-6

4 Yet I persistently sent to you all my servants the prophets, saying, “I beg you not to do this abominable thing that I hate!” 5 But they did not listen or incline their ear, to turn from their wickedness and make no offerings to other gods. 6 So my wrath and my anger were poured out and kindled in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they became a waste and a desolation, as they still are today.

4 Again and again(A) I sent my servants the prophets,(B) who said, ‘Do not do this detestable(C) thing that I hate!’ 5 But they did not listen or pay attention;(D) they did not turn from their wickedness(E) or stop burning incense(F) to other gods.(G) 6 Therefore, my fierce anger was poured out;(H) it raged against the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem and made them the desolate ruins(I) they are today.
