6 Flee and save your lives, and be like unto the [a]heath in the wilderness.
7 For because thou hast trusted in thy [b]works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken, and [c]Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his Priests and his Princes together.
8 And the destroyer shall come upon all cities, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish and the plain shall be destroyed as the Lord hath spoken.

- Jeremiah 48:7 That is, the idols which are the works of thine hands. Some read, in thy possessions, for so the word may signify, as 1 Sam. 25:2.

6 Flee!(A) Run for your lives;
become like a bush[a] in the desert.(B)
7 Since you trust in your deeds and riches,(C)
you too will be taken captive,
and Chemosh(D) will go into exile,(E)
together with his priests and officials.(F)
8 The destroyer(G) will come against every town,
and not a town will escape.
The valley will be ruined
and the plateau(H) destroyed,
because the Lord has spoken.
