“Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths [of the desert to escape the judgment of Edom],
O inhabitants of [a]Dedan,
For I will bring the destruction of [b]Esau (Edom) upon him
When I inspect and punish him.

“If grape gatherers came to you,
Would they not leave some ungleaned grapes [on the vines]?
If thieves came by night,
Would they not destroy [only] what is enough [for them]?
10 
“But I have stripped Esau (Edom) bare;
I have uncovered his hiding places
And he cannot hide himself.
His descendants have been destroyed along with his brothers (relatives) and his neighbors;
And he is no more.
