Babylon’s soldiers will be killed in Babylon.
    They will be badly injured in Babylon’s streets.
The Lord God of heaven’s armies
    did not leave Israel and Judah alone.
They are fully guilty of leaving the Holy One of Israel.
    But he has not left them.

“Run away from Babylon!
    Run to save your lives!
    Don’t stay and be killed because of Babylon’s sins.
It is time for the Lord to punish Babylon.
    Babylon will get the punishment it deserves.

They will fall(A) down slain in Babylon,[a]
    fatally wounded in her streets.(B)
For Israel and Judah have not been forsaken(C)
    by their God, the Lord Almighty,
though their land[b] is full of guilt(D)
    before the Holy One of Israel.

“Flee(E) from Babylon!
    Run for your lives!
    Do not be destroyed because of her sins.(F)
It is time(G) for the Lord’s vengeance;(H)
    he will repay(I) her what she deserves.
