The slain will fall in the land of Chaldea,
    pierced through in her streets.
Indeed, Israel and Judah haven’t been
    abandoned[a] by their[b] God,
by the Lord of the Heavenly Armies,
    although their land is full of guilt
        against the Holy One of Israel.”

Flee from Babylon,[c]
    and each of you, escape with your life!
Don’t be destroyed[d] because of her guilt,
    for it’s time for the Lord’s vengeance.
        He is paying back what is due to her.
