¹² Then after seventy years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, says the Lord, making the land an everlasting waste.^(A)

³ For out of the north a nation has come up against her; it shall make her land a desolation, and no one shall live in it; both humans and animals shall flee away.^(A)

³⁹ Therefore wild animals shall live with hyenas in Babylon,^[a] and ostriches shall inhabit her; she shall never again be peopled or inhabited for all generations.^(A)

⁹ I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities shall never be inhabited. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.^(A)
