14 Meanwhile, all the Chaldean troops who had accompanied the captain of the guard demolished the walls that surrounded Jerusalem.
15 Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, led into exile some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, those deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon, and the remaining artisans. 16 However, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, left behind some of the poorest people of the land to serve as vinedressers and farmers.

New International Version
14 The whole Babylonian army, under the commander of the imperial guard, broke down all the walls(A) around Jerusalem. 15 Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard carried into exile(B) some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, along with the rest of the craftsmen[a] and those who had deserted(C) to the king of Babylon. 16 But Nebuzaradan left behind(D) the rest of the poorest people of the land to work the vineyards and fields.
