“Their (A)tongue is a deadly arrow;
It speaks deceit;
With his mouth one (B)speaks peace to his neighbor,
But inwardly he (C)sets an ambush for him.
(D)Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the Lord.
“On a nation such as this
Shall I not avenge Myself?

10 “For the (E)mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing,
And for the pastures of the (F)wilderness a dirge,
Because they are (G)laid waste so that no one passes through,
And the lowing of the cattle is not heard;
Both the (H)birds of the sky and the beasts have fled; they are gone.

    but in their hearts they set traps(C) for them.(D)
Should I not punish them for this?”
    declares the Lord.

    and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands.(F)
They are desolate and untraveled,
    and the lowing of cattle is not heard.
The birds(G) have all fled
    and the animals are gone.
