²³ This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore their fortunes,^[a] they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities, ‘May the Lord bless you, righteous settlement,^(A) holy mountain.’^(B)

² The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “The Lord your God decreed this disaster on this place,^{(A) 3} and the Lord has fulfilled it. He has done just what He decreed. Because you people have sinned against the Lord^(B) and have not obeyed Him, this thing has happened.
