⁶ “Flee^(A) from Babylon!
    Run for your lives!
    Do not be destroyed because of her sins.^(B)
It is time^(C) for the Lord’s vengeance;^(D)
    he will repay^(E) her what she deserves.

³⁵ May the violence^(A) done to our flesh^[a] be on Babylon,”
    say the inhabitants of Zion.
“May our blood be on those who live in Babylonia,”
    says Jerusalem.^(B)

⁴¹ when I sharpen my flashing sword^(A)
    and my hand grasps it in judgment,
I will take vengeance^(B) on my adversaries
    and repay those who hate me.^(C)

¹⁵ Shout^(A) against her on every side!
    She surrenders, her towers fall,
    her walls^(B) are torn down.
Since this is the vengeance^(C) of the Lord,
    take vengeance on her;
    do to her^(D) as she has done to others.^(E)

⁶⁴ Pay them back what they deserve, Lord,
    for what their hands have done.^(A)
