23 The arrows and spears he carries make noise as they hit together. 24 He runs fast over the ground with shaking and anger. He cannot stand still at the sound of the horn. 25 When the horn sounds, he laughs without fear. He smells the battle from far away. He hears the thunder of the captains, and the war cry.

23 The quiver(A) rattles against its side,
along with the flashing spear(B) and lance.
24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;
it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.(C)
25 At the blast of the trumpet(D) it snorts, ‘Aha!’
It catches the scent of battle from afar,
the shout of commanders and the battle cry.(E)
