⁸ They are higher^(A) than the heavens^(B) above—what can you do?
    They are deeper than the depths below^(C)—what can you know?^(D)

¹² He does not answer^(A) when people cry out
    because of the arrogance^(B) of the wicked.^(C)

⁹ he tells them what they have done—
    that they have sinned arrogantly.^(A)

⁸ “Would you discredit my justice?^(A)
    Would you condemn me to justify yourself?^(B)

⁹ Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
    and their tongues take possession of the earth.

⁵ Do not lift your horns against heaven;
    do not speak so defiantly.^(A)’”

³⁰ There is no wisdom,^(A) no insight, no plan
    that can succeed against the Lord.^(B)

¹⁶ The Lord says,
    “The women of Zion^(A) are haughty,
walking along with outstretched necks,^(B)
    flirting with their eyes,
strutting along with swaying hips,
    with ornaments jingling on their ankles.
