¹⁴ Darkness^(A) comes upon them in the daytime;
    at noon they grope as in the night.^(B)

⁹ So justice is far from us,
    and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness;^(A)
    for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
¹⁰ Like the blind^(B) we grope along the wall,
    feeling our way like people without eyes.
At midday we stumble^(C) as if it were twilight;
    among the strong, we are like the dead.^(D)

⁹ The mother of seven will grow faint^(A)
    and breathe her last.^(B)
Her sun will set while it is still day;
    she will be disgraced^(C) and humiliated.
I will put the survivors to the sword^(D)
    before their enemies,”^(E)
declares the Lord.

⁷ When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens
    and darken their stars;
I will cover the sun with a cloud,
    and the moon will not give its light.^(A)

⁸ He who made the Pleiades and Orion,^(A)
    who turns midnight into dawn^(B)
    and darkens day into night,^(C)
who calls for the waters of the sea
    and pours them out over the face of the land—
    the Lord is his name.^(D)

⁶ Therefore night will come over you, without visions,
    and darkness, without divination.^(A)
The sun will set for the prophets,^(B)
    and the day will go dark for them.^(C)
