16 The Word was full of grace and truth. From him we all received more and more blessings. 17 The law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No man has ever seen God. But God the only Son is very close to the Father.[a] And the Son has shown us what God is like.

16 Out of his fullness(A) we have all received grace(B) in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses;(C) grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.(D) 18 No one has ever seen God,(E) but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[a](F) is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
