John 1:27-29

²⁷He is the one coming after me who is greater than I am. I am not even good enough to untie his shoe strings.'

²⁸The place where John was baptizing was Bethany on the other side of the Jordan River.

²⁹The next day John saw Jesus coming to him. `Look,' said John. `See God's special Lamb! He takes away the wrong ways of the world.

²⁷He is the one who comes after me,^(A) the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”^(B)

²⁸This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan,^(C) where John was baptizing.

²⁹The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,^(D) who takes away the sin of the world!^(E)
