2 Now when it was time for supper, the devil(A) had already put it into the heart of Judas,(B) Simon Iscariot’s son,[a] to betray(C) him. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into his hands,(D) that he had come from God,(E) and that he was going back to God.(F) 4 So he got up from supper, laid aside his outer clothing,(G) took a towel, and tied it around himself.(H)

2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(A) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(B) and that he had come from God(C) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(D)
