Now by the time of supper, the Devil(A) had already put it into the heart of Judas,(B) Simon Iscariot’s son, to betray(C) Him. Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into His hands,(D) that He had come from God,(E) and that He was going back to God.(F) So He got up from supper, laid aside His robe,(G) took a towel, and tied it around Himself.(H)

The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(A) Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(B) and that he had come from God(C) and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(D)
