2 The devil had already induced[a] Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, to hand him over. So, during supper,(A) 3 fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God,(B) 4 he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist.

2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(A) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(B) and that he had come from God(C) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(D)
