John 18:32-34

(³²^(A)This happened in order to make come true what Jesus had said when he indicated the kind of death he would die.)

³³Pilate went back into the palace and called Jesus. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.

³⁴Jesus answered, “Does this question come from you or have others told you about me?”

³²This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die.^(A)

³³Pilate then went back inside the palace,^(B) summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”^(C)

³⁴“Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
