2 (A)And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and put a purple [a]cloak on Him; 3 and they repeatedly came up to Him and said, “(B)Hail, King of the Jews!” and (C)slapped Him in the face again and again. 4 And then Pilate (D)came out again and *said to them, “See, I am bringing Him out to you so that you will know that (E)I find no grounds at all for charges in [b]His case.”

New International Version
2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe 3 and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!”(A) And they slapped him in the face.(B)
4 Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out(C) to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”(D)
