23 (A)Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. 24 They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says:

(B)“They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”

Therefore the soldiers did these things.

25 (C)Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of (D)Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled(A) that said,

“They divided my clothes among them
    and cast lots for my garment.”[a](B)

So this is what the soldiers did.

25 Near the cross(C) of Jesus stood his mother,(D) his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.(E)
