John 19:29-31
Legacy Standard Bible
29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so (A)they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. 30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “(B)It is finished!” And bowing His head, He (C)gave up His spirit.
31 Then the Jews, because it was (D)the day of Preparation, so that (E)the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath ([a]for that Sabbath was a (F)high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

John 19:29-31
New International Version
29 A jar of wine vinegar(A) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(B) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31 Now it was the day of Preparation,(C) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses(D) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.
