31 Then the Jews— because it was Preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross during the Sabbath (for the day of that Sabbath was a great[b] day)— asked Pilate that their legs be broken, and they be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first one, and of the other one having been crucified-with Him.
