35 (The one who saw this happen has told about it. He told about it so that you also can believe. The things he says are true. He knows that he tells the truth.) 36 These things happened to give full meaning to the Scriptures that said, “None of his bones will be broken”[a] 37 and “People will look at the one they stabbed.”[b]

35 The man who saw it(A) has given testimony, and his testimony is true.(B) He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled:(C) “Not one of his bones will be broken,”[a](D) 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”[b](E)
