Joseph Lays Jesus In a Tomb

38 Now after these things Joseph from Arimathea— being a disciple of Jesus, but having been hidden[a] because of the fear of the Jews— asked Pilate in order that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it. So he came and took away His body. 39 And Nicodemus also came— the one having first come to Him by night— bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds[b]. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen-cloths with the spices, as is the custom for the Jews to prepare-for-burial.
