²⁶ For just as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted to the Son^(A) to have life in Himself.

²⁵ The one who loves his life will lose it,^(A) and the one who hates^(B) his life^(C) in this world will keep it for eternal life.

⁴⁸ When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the message of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.

²⁵ And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.^(A)
