“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves[a] and two fish; but what good are these for so many?”(A) 10 Jesus said, “Have the people recline.” Now there was a great deal of grass[b] in that place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number.(B) 11 Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted.(C)

10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks,(B) and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
