²¹ He said to them again, “I am going away and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin.^[a] Where I am going you cannot come.”^(A)

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of the light.”^(A)

Unbelief and Belief Among the Jews. After he had said this, Jesus left and hid from them.

³³ My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, ‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.^(A)

Peter’s Denial Predicted. ³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?” Jesus answered [him], “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, though you will follow later.”^(A)

⁵ But now I am going to the one who sent me, and not one of you asks me,^[a] ‘Where are you going?’^(A)
