41 You are doing the deeds of your father!”
They said[a] to him, “We were not born from sexual immorality! We have one father, God!” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I have come forth from God and have come. For I have not come from myself, but that one sent me. 43 Why[b] do you not understand my way of speaking? Because you are not able to listen to my message.

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”(B)
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me,(C) for I have come here from God.(D) I have not come on my own;(E) God sent me.(F) 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
