⁵² Then the Jews said, “Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’

⁵⁵ You do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say I don’t know him,^(A) I would be a liar like you. But I do know him,^(B) and I keep his word.

²³ Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.^{(A) 24} The one who doesn’t love me will not keep my words. The word that you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.^(B)

²⁰ Remember the word I spoke to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’^(A) If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word,^(B) they will also keep yours.
