5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”(A) 6 When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes,(B) 7 and said to him, “Go wash[a] in the Pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed, and came back able to see.(C)

- 9:7 Go wash: perhaps a test of faith; cf. 2 Kgs 5:10–14. The water tunnel Siloam (= Sent) is used as a symbol of Jesus, sent by his Father.

5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”(A)
6 After saying this, he spit(B) on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”(C) (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.(D)
