John 13:10-12

10 Jesus said to him, “Whoever has bathed[a] has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all.”(A) 11 For he knew who would betray him; for this reason, he said, “Not all of you are clean.”(B)
12 So when he had washed their feet [and] put his garments back on and reclined at table again, he said to them, “Do you realize what I have done for you?

- 13:10 Bathed: many have suggested that this passage is a symbolic reference to baptism. The Greek root involved is used in baptismal contexts in 1 Cor 6:11; Eph 5:26; Ti 3:5; Hb 10:22.
