²“Go to the great city of Nineveh^(A) and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”

⁵The men of Nineveh believed in God.^[a] They proclaimed a fast^(A) and dressed in sackcloth—from the greatest of them to the least.

⁵The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.^(A)
