4 Then Jonah began to go into the city, one day’s walk; and he (A)called out and said, “Yet forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”
5 And the [a]people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a (B)fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. 6 Then the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, laid aside his mantle from him, (C)covered himself with sackcloth, and sat on the [b]ashes.

New International Version
4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming,(A) “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.(B)
6 When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.(C)
