Joshua 10:13

International Standard Version

¹³So the sun remained still
and the moon stood in place
until the nation settled their score with their enemies.

This is recorded, is it not, in the book of Jashar?^[a]

The sun stood in place
in the middle of the sky
and seemed not to be in a hurry
to set for nearly an entire day.

Joshua 10:13 Lit. the Book of the Upright; i.e. an ancient chronicle of Israel, apparently now lost. The first half of v. 13 rather than the quatrain following may be the citation.

New International Version

¹³So the sun stood still,^(A)
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on^[a] its enemies,

as it is written in the Book of Jashar.^(B)

The sun stopped^(C) in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
