until the nation took vengeance on their enemies.

Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in midheaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day.^(A)

New International Version

¹³So the sun stood still,^(A)
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on^[a] its enemies,

as it is written in the Book of Jashar.^(B)

The sun stopped^(C) in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.

³The battle pressed hard on Saul, and the archers found him, and he was badly wounded by them.^(A)

³The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded^(A) him critically.
