¹¹ I am still as strong^(A) today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous^(B) to go out to battle now as I was then.

¹³ So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led^(A) the troops in their campaigns.^{(B) 14} In everything he did he had great success,^(C) because the Lord was with^(D) him. ¹⁵ When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him. ¹⁶ But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.^(E)

11 In the spring,^(A) at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab^(B) out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army.^(C) They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah.^(D) But David remained in Jerusalem.
