Zelophehad, son of Hepher, grandson of Gilead, and great-grandson of Machir, whose father was Manasseh, had no sons—only daughters. Their names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They came to the priest Eleazar, Joshua (son of Nun), and the leaders. They said, “Yahweh commanded Moses to give us some land as an inheritance among our male relatives.” So they gave them an inheritance among their father’s relatives as Yahweh had required. Ten portions of land went to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan east of the Jordan River.

Now Zelophehad son of Hepher,(A) the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons but only daughters,(B) whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They went to Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the leaders and said, “The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our relatives.” So Joshua gave them an inheritance along with the brothers of their father, according to the Lord’s command.(C) Manasseh’s share consisted of ten tracts of land besides Gilead and Bashan east of the Jordan,(D)
