Their inheritance was Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah, Hazar Shual, Balah, Ezem, Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah, Ziklag, Beth Markaboth, Hazar Susah, Beth Lebaoth, and Sharuhen: thirteen cities and their villages;

Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan: four cities and their villages; and all the villages that were around these cities as far as Baalath Beer, Ramah of the Negev.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon according to their clans. Simeon received a portion of the inheritance of Judah, for the inheritance of Judah was too large for them, so Simeon inherited land in the midst of the inheritance of Judah.

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, according to its clans. The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah,(K) because Judah’s portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.(L)
