10 because we have heard how the Lord dried up the Red Sea when you came out of Egypt. We have heard how you destroyed Sihon and Og, two Amorite kings who lived east of the Jordan. 11 When we heard this, we were very frightened. Now our men are afraid to fight you because the Lord your God rules the heavens above and the earth below! 12 So now, promise me before the Lord that you will show kindness to my family just as I showed kindness to you. Give me some proof that you will do this.

10 We have heard how the Lord dried up(A) the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt,(B) and what you did to Sihon and Og,(C) the two kings of the Amorites(D) east of the Jordan,(E) whom you completely destroyed.[b](F) 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear(G) and everyone’s courage failed(H) because of you,(I) for the Lord your God(J) is God in heaven above and on the earth(K) below.
12 “Now then, please swear to me(L) by the Lord that you will show kindness(M) to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign(N)
