12 I sent before you the hornet and they drove out before you two kings of the Amorites;[a] but not by your sword or bow. 13 I gave to you a land that you have not labored on, and cities that you have not built, and you live[b] in them; you eat from vineyards and olive groves that you have not planted.’
The Israelites Promise to Serve Yahweh
14 “So now, revere Yahweh and serve him in sincerity and faithfulness; remove the gods that your ancestors[c] served beyond the river[d] and in Egypt, and serve Yahweh.

You did not do it with your own sword and bow.(C) 13 So I gave you a land(D) on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’(E)
14 “Now fear the Lord(F) and serve him with all faithfulness.(G) Throw away the gods(H) your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt,(I) and serve the Lord.
