12 I sent the hornet[a] ahead of you, which drove out before you the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. 13 I gave you a land on which you had not laboured, and towns that you had not built, and you live in them; you eat the fruit of vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.
14 ‘Now therefore revere the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

You did not do it with your own sword and bow.(C) 13 So I gave you a land(D) on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’(E)
14 “Now fear the Lord(F) and serve him with all faithfulness.(G) Throw away the gods(H) your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt,(I) and serve the Lord.
