27 And the children of Israel divided among them the cattle and the prey of the city, as the Lord had commanded Josue.
28 And he burned the city, and made it a heap for ever:
29 And he hung the king thereof on a gibbet until the evening and the going down of the sun. Then Josue commanded, and they took down his carcass from the gibbet: and threw it in the very entrance of the city, heaping upon it a great heap of stones, which remaineth until this present day.

Joshua 8:27-29
New International Version
27 But Israel did carry off for themselves the livestock and plunder of this city, as the Lord had instructed Joshua.(A)
28 So Joshua burned(B) Ai[a](C) and made it a permanent heap of ruins,(D) a desolate place to this day.(E) 29 He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset,(F) Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks(G) over it, which remains to this day.
