Joshua 8:27-29

27 Israel plundered only the cattle and spoil of that city for themselves, according to the Lord’s command that He had given Joshua.
28 Joshua burned Ai and left it a permanent ruin, desolate to this day.(A) 29 He hung[a] the body of the king of Ai on a tree[b] until evening, and at sunset Joshua commanded that they take his body down from the tree.(B) They threw it down at the entrance of the city gate and put a large pile of rocks over it, which remains to this day.

New International Version
27 But Israel did carry off for themselves the livestock and plunder of this city, as the Lord had instructed Joshua.(A)
28 So Joshua burned(B) Ai[a](C) and made it a permanent heap of ruins,(D) a desolate place to this day.(E) 29 He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset,(F) Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks(G) over it, which remains to this day.
