Joshua 8:27-29
Tree of Life Version
27 Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took as their booty, according to the word of Adonai which He had commanded Joshua. 28 So Joshua burnt Ai and made it a permanent heap of desolation to this day. 29 Then he hanged the king of Ai on a tree until evening. At sunset Joshua commanded that they take his carcass down from the tree, cast it at the entrance of the gate of the city, and piled over it a great heap of stones, which remains to this day.

New International Version
27 But Israel did carry off for themselves the livestock and plunder of this city, as the Lord had instructed Joshua.(A)
28 So Joshua burned(B) Ai[a](C) and made it a permanent heap of ruins,(D) a desolate place to this day.(E) 29 He impaled the body of the king of Ai on a pole and left it there until evening. At sunset,(F) Joshua ordered them to take the body from the pole and throw it down at the entrance of the city gate. And they raised a large pile of rocks(G) over it, which remains to this day.
