Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings whose thumbs and big toes had been cut off used to eat scraps that fell from my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them.” The men of Judah took Adoni-Bezek to Jerusalem, and he died there.

Then the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it. They attacked with their swords and burned the city.

Later, they went down to fight the Canaanites who lived in the mountains, in the dry country to the south, and in the western hills.

Then Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. Now God has paid me back(A) for what I did to them.” They brought him to Jerusalem,(B) and he died there.

The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem(C) also and took it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.

After that, Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country,(D) the Negev(E) and the western foothills.
