Judges 14:11-13
New English Translation
11 When the Philistines saw he had no attendants, they gave him thirty groomsmen who kept him company.[a] 12 Samson said to them, “I will give you a riddle. If you really can solve it during the seven days the party lasts,[b] I will give you thirty linen robes and thirty sets[c] of clothes. 13 But if you cannot solve it,[d] you will give me thirty linen robes and thirty sets of clothes.” They said to him, “Let us hear your riddle.”[e]

- Judges 14:11 tn Heb “When they saw him, they gave him thirty companions and they were with him.” Instead of כִּרְאוֹתָם (kirʾotam, “when they saw”) some ancient witnesses (e.g., some mss of the LXX) assume the reading בְּיִרְאָתָם (beyirʾatam, “because they feared”).

New International Version
11 When the people saw him, they chose thirty men to be his companions.
12 “Let me tell you a riddle,(A)” Samson said to them. “If you can give me the answer within the seven days of the feast,(B) I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes.(C) 13 If you can’t tell me the answer, you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes.”
“Tell us your riddle,” they said. “Let’s hear it.”
