35 And Yahweh defeated Benjamin in the presence of Israel, and the Israelites[a] destroyed on that day twenty-five thousand one hundred men of Benjamin, all of them sword-wielding.[b]

36 The descendants[c] of Benjamin saw that they were defeated, and the men of Israel gave ground[d] to Benjamin because they trusted the ambush that they had set against Gibeah. 37 And the ambush came quickly and advanced against Gibeah, and it put the whole city to the sword.[e]

35 The Lord defeated Benjamin(A) before Israel, and on that day the Israelites struck down 25,100 Benjamites, all armed with swords. 36 Then the Benjamites saw that they were beaten.

Now the men of Israel had given way(B) before Benjamin, because they relied on the ambush(C) they had set near Gibeah. 37 Those who had been in ambush made a sudden dash into Gibeah, spread out and put the whole city to the sword.(D)
