And they took [a]their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

¶ So the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baal, and [b]Asherah.

Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim King of [c]Aram-naharaim, and the children of Israel served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.
