¹³ Gideon said to Him, “O ^[a]my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And ^(A)where are all His miracles ^(B)which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has ^(C)forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

² And he went out ^[a]to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. ^(A)The Lord is with you while you are with Him. ^(B)If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but ^(C)if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

²⁰ Then the Spirit of God ^[a]came upon ^(A)Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God: ^(B)‘Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord, so that you cannot prosper? ^(C)Because you have forsaken the Lord, He also has forsaken you.’ ”

²² For ^(A)I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, ^(B)“The hand of our God is upon all those for ^(C)good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are ^(D)against all those who ^(E)forsake Him.”
